Currently serves as Otero County UnderSheriff
20 years of law enforcement experience
Associate degree from Otero College

My name is Enrique Guzman, and I serve as the Undersheriff for Otero County. I bring nearly 20 years of law enforcement experience to the communities I serve. I provide executive leadership and strategic oversight of daily operations, including patrol, investigations, and interagency coordination. Every day I work to strengthen public safety, build trust, and maintain professional accountability within the agency.
I began my law enforcement career in 2005 with the South Houston Police Department, where I advanced through the ranks to Patrol Sergeant and served as a K-9 handler. In that role, I supervised officers in a high call volume environment, oversaw investigations, led tactical operations, and mentored personnel to ensure professional, consistent, and accountable policing.
After relocating to Colorado in 2018, I continued my service with the Fowler Police Department, focusing on proactive enforcement and building strong community relationships. In 2022, I joined the Otero County Sheriff’s Office, where I quickly earned promotions from Deputy Sheriff to Deputy Sergeant, and ultimately to Undersheriff.
In my current role, I oversee critical incidents, support policy development, and help guide the agency’s direction with transparency, accountability, and a commitment to doing the job right. I believe accountability is essential, not only in how we serve the public, but also in how we lead, train, and hold ourselves to the highest standards within our own organization.
I hold an Associate of General Studies degree from Otero College, as well as Advanced Peace Officer Certifications, and have completed extensive training in criminal investigations, tactical response, and leadership development.
I am very grateful for the opportunities made available to me by our great nation with the hard work, integrity, and respect for others that I live by. Keeping the hope and promise of the American dream alive requires we provide safety and security for all people and property in our community. I promise you to remain fully committed to ethical policing, professional excellence, and serving our communities with integrity and respect. I humbly ask for your vote for Otero County Sheriff this November.
